Can you tell me a little bit about the research that you have seen on how gratitude impacts the brain?

Science shows that the medial prefrontal cortex is activated when people experience gratitude and the effects can last for three months!  This suggests that simply expressing gratitude many have lasting effects on the brain.

When the officers were first asked to attend school what were their reactions?

Initially we asked to conference call the officers who helped during the event at Maple however, the Sherriff decided it would be amazing to make a visit to have the letter read out loud.  We were thrilled, as you could imagine.

How did this activity inspire you?

This activity has inspired me because it touched the hearts of not only my students, but those who were the recipients of the letters too.  Each one involved felt incredible and then my hopes is that they take those feelings and spread them, multiplying joy around our school, to the families of our students and within our community!

Would you do this activity again?

100% YES
