Did you see everyone walking around with blue eyes? Yes, you probably did.

But you are probably wondering why. You know how everyone is afraid of something? Like the dark, zombies, ghosts, etc. Have you ever heard of someone being afraid of an eye? Specifically, a blue eye? I hadn’t until I read “The- Tell- Tale- Heart” by: Edgar Allan Poe. This is a story about an “evil” blue eye kind of like a “vultures eye”. This eye is like none other as it can harm someone just by LOOKING at them! Scary right? The caretaker is afraid of it so he decides to get rid of it… How?? Well you will have to wait until next year to find out!

On Tuesday, Oct. 31st, students were encouraged to be creative and wear t-shirts they design that feature the evil eye. The students who participate annually have a great time! There are numerous ways one may participate. A child may create an image, design a t-shirt, wear jewelry with the evil eye theme, or bring in eyeball themed treats in order to remember the term "inciting incident".  It creates quite a buzz among students, with 6th and 7th graders wondering what it is all about. The inciting incident as a literary technique will hopefully be remembered through this fun-filled activity.
